This keynote explores the intersection of visualization, artificial intelligence, and human decision support, focusing on how multimodal interfaces are shaping next-generation AI-enabled workflows. Effective visualization empowers users to interpret complex data, while AI augments human insight, making decision processes more robust and transparent. Multimodal interfaces—combining visual, auditory, and tactile channels—are emerging as pivotal tools in facilitating seamless human-AI collaboration, enabling users to interact with systems in more intuitive and meaningful ways.
To realize these advancements, Sweden requires a robust AI compute infrastructure capable of supporting both research and industrial innovation. The talk will highlight examples such as the build-up of Sferical AI to provide key industries in Sweden with state-of-the-art AI compute. The Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) plays a central role in this landscape, driving forward the development of advanced AI technologies and cultivating a new generation of experts. Through its comprehensive initiatives, WASP provides critical competence that bridges the gap between academic breakthroughs and real-world industrial adoption.
