Model Interpretability - speaker: Marko Cotra, hosts: Altran

  • Altran 3A Sofierogatan Västra Götalands län, 412 51 Sweden (map)

Welcome to the first meetup of the autumn. We kick-off the new season with Marko Cotra talking about model interpretability. Marko works at the machine learning startup Annotell. The presentation was scheduled for the GAIA conference earlier this year but he, unfortunately, had to cancel, so we are very happy to give it a second chance. The event is hosted by Altran.

Most major machine learning breakthroughs and achievements in recent years can be attributed to deep learning – a family of highly complex and nonlinear models. However, a major drawback with deep learning models is that they are very hard to interpret – we know what the model predicts but we have very little insight into how it reasons. With more machine learning models being deployed into real-life scenarios, safety requirements on these systems have increased, especially in the area of model interpretability.

During this talk, you will get an introduction to model interpretability – why it is important and why it is so hard to understand some of our most powerful models. Different methods of interpreting models will be presented together with some theoretical background on the topic, as well as new research in this area.

With our best in class engineers and global organization, Altran is one of the world-leading companies within Engineering and R&D services.

We offer our clients a new way to innovate by developing the products and services of tomorrow and works alongside our clients on every link in the value chain of their project, from conception to industrialization.

In Gothenburg you will find us mostly at our customers, such as Volvo, Ericsson, AstraZeneca, Saab, or Siemens, helping them developing innovative products in the high-tech business.

Together with GAIA, Altran invites you to an evening at the Scandinavian Headquarters on the topic of AI and Machine Learning.
